It's not a Happy Soda.

Every Happy Soda we make is built on a balanced mix of both hemp-derived THC and CBD, each softening the other's edges. Skinny Amalfi Spritz is built differently. There's no CBD in this can at all. Instead: 5mg of hemp-derived Delta-9 THC and 5mg of THCV.

Meet THCV.

Commonly referred to as “diet weed” or “the sports car cannabinoid”, THCV is a naturally occurring cannabinoid found in the hemp plant — a close structural relative of Delta-9 THC, but the small difference changes how the molecule behaves.

THCV occurs in trace amounts, which makes it difficult and expensive to isolate. It has only recently become available at any real scale, and this is the first time we've been able to put a meaningful dose of it in a can that actually tastes like something

Why THCV?

Every Happy Soda pairs THC with CBD. CBD rounds the edges — it softens the experience. An aperitivo is a different brief. The whole point of the hour before dinner is that the evening is still ahead of you. We didn't want soft. We wanted clear.

That's what sent us to THCV. It engages the same receptor system as THC, but from the opposite direction — where THC activates those receptors, THCV at these levels tends to work against that activation. Two cannabinoids in tension rather than in harmony, which is a different way to build a drink.

Will this feel different from a Happy Soda?

Different arrangement, same neighborhood. Bright, light, uplifting — where our Happy Sodas live — but there's no CBD in this can to round the edges. The most useful human work on THCV is about exactly this pairing. In a controlled trial, people who took THCV alongside THC reported feeling less heavily intoxicated than from THC alone — clearer-headed, with less of the sedative quality THC can bring on its own.

Drinkers of THCV-forward products often describe the experience as more awake and more sociable than THC by itself — present rather than heavy, better suited to the start of an evening than the end of one. It's why THCV has a reputation as the more daytime-friendly cannabinoid.
